The World Series of Poker Global Casino Championship was hosted at Harrah’s Cherokee for the fifth straight year. This exclusive invite-only event had a guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000 and each Circuit Main Event winner and Casino Champion received a free seat while all Top 50 players from the domestic US tour receive free entry as well. This incredible promotion leads to 132 qualifiers for this year’s event. The remaining spots in this field were filled out by players who met the direct buy-in criteria, meaning they placed Top 100 in the 2018 World Series of Poker Player of the Year standings or win a WSOP Circuit Ring during the 2018-2019 season.

The United States Poker Championship (USPC) was a major annual stop on the poker tournament tour. This event was held at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The series started in 1996, took one year off in 1997, and ran every year from 1998–2010. This series of poker tournaments culminated with a $10,000 no-limit Texas hold 'em championship tournament televised by ESPN and commentated by Lon McEachern and Norman Chad.[1] The last time this tournament series was run was 2010.[2]
